Actively participating here in the forum is also a good preparation: If you are able to answer the most typical questions then you are good to go ;) 

Start with the easy ones, such as the ones with "Help needed!" in the subject, then go to the intermediate ones like "Did anyone succeed in doing Foo?", then to the advanced ones like "On platform X with Qt 4.x, when compiling against Foo I have a conflict in Blah, I already tried A and B..." etc. etc. ;)
