[Qt-interest] Launch Application when File is dropped on Icon

I have been wading through the documentation and google trying to figure out
what I need to implement in order to have my Qt application launch when a
file is dragged onto the application Icon. This is on OS X 10.5 with Qt
built against Cocoa. I have written the appropriate plist file so that the
bundle knows to accept file drops with certain extensions. The rest seems a
mystery to me. I tried looking at the "Designer" source code but that is a
lot of code to wade through when I don't really know what to look for.
  Apple events maybe?

Any help or pushes in the right direction is much appreciated.
