[Qt-interest] How to create a dynamic screen widget with Qt?

Dear all,

    As the topic, I don't know how to create a dynamic screen widget 
with Qt. The widget is just like mplayer's front-end screen which used 
to play the stream media, or just like VirtualBox's virtual mation 
screen which can update as the virtual machine goes.

    I have no idea about it. I'd like to look SMplayer's source code, 
but it is a little large so that I can't understand quickly.
    Can anyone touch me about that, specially what's the thinking of it.
