1. We are actively processing the bugs in the system.
2. The symbian backend is currently under development.
3. The low-level audio has a plugin backend that will be released in the future to enable development of custom
Audio backends to support for example (linux:oss, pulseaudio).

You will have issues with linux platforms that use pulseaudio as a sound system as there is no backend for this yet.
Once the backend API is released wider coverage can be developed.
We are not supermen, things must be done in a managed way and the priority was to get the low-level audio API done.

The rest will come, you can help by providing us with the feedback we need in the form of bugreports.

Hope I have addressed your concerns.

Subject: [Qt-interest] Status of QtMultimedia module

Hello,
over the last two weeks I evaluated the QtMultimedia module introduced in Qt 4.6.0

I tried 4 plattforms:
- Mac: Audio Input does not work: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-7894
- Linux: Audio Input example exits: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-7991
- Symbian: No multimedia backend at all: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189392&highlight=4.6.1
- Windows 7: Works fine

Generall:
- Header files are missing: http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-7891

I am wondering whether I am the only one facing such problems. I don't want to believe yet that I am the only person using that module. Does anyone successfully using that framework on any of the the plattforms I mentioned above where I have problems?

Considering that only one of four plattforms is usable ATM, have my doubts about the maturity of that API and whether it is recommended to use it at all? I first thought this was maybe an API that mostly used internally by Nokia but this does not make sense given the fact it looks like there is no S60 backend.

Best regards

Axel Jäger
