[Qt-interest] strange problems in Ubuntu 9.10

I have a Qt application that runs file on Windows and Mac, but when I run it on Ubuntu (9.10), some of the windows are not rendered correctly -- they are partially transparent. And some of the closed windows leave a white square on the screen. If I turn off the desktop effects in Ubuntu, then it behaves properly, but transparent effects and anti-aliasing are completely disabled.
