I can tell you, I would prefer you set the compilers based on whats
available when the major version comes out.. And that list is at least
maintained for the duration of new minor versions...

While I very rarely would consider moving from 4.5 to say 4.6 in a dev
cycle, I would and have move from 4.5.1 to 4.5.2 etc in the same dev cycle.

If I was to find out, that my compiler with my SP etc was support in one
minor version of the release, and not another, it would be very
frustrating...

For instance, right now, I have one client on 4.5.3 and another on 4.6.2.
However, I cant move my 4.5.3 client to VS2008, because the product for him
is tied to other apps that I don't own, and he is using 2005 as the LCD
compiler for his vendors...

So on my system, I have 4.5.3 for 2005, 2008 as well as 4.6.2 2008 (all 4.6
based clients moved forward)
