I saw something which looked like this when, on my X11 based
platform, I tried to create PDF files. But, I had built Qt without
FontConfig and, therefore, did not have scalable fonts. When I
properly enabled FontConfig all was well.

But you are on Windows and so this is not,
at first glance, applicable.
