[Qt-interest] Cross Platform Shortcut Conventions

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on making keyboard 
shortcuts that work across Mac/Linux/Windows/more? that don't conflict 
with other OS/window manager shortcuts. I need at least 40 shortcuts and 
was thinking of using the F1-F12 keys (with modifiers sometimes), plus 
Ctrl?-A-Z, but would like to know what experience people have had in 
making shortcuts consistent across platforms and also not conflict with 
the OS/window manager. Is there any de-facto standards about whether apps 
should use CTRL, ALT, META, SHIFT for the different OSes? Any thoughts?
