Sounds interesting.
I had a similar idea to write an GDB remote debugger for OpenOcd
(ARM7/Cortex M3).

As far as your code is open source you don't have to worry
about this.

You have to release the parts you have modified and you have to be
very carefully with using nokias brand here.
