[Qt-interest] Errors building COM (ActiveQt) samples with LGPL/MinGW

I have the latest gcc version of Qt and Qt Creator (Windows) and am trying
to build some of the ActiveQt samples and am getting post-build errors.  My
first problem was a missing MIDL compiler, so I downloaded the latest MS
SDK.  Now MIDL is complaining it can't find cl.exe - does this mean I need a
copy of the MS C compiler to build ActiveQt apps?  Can't I do this with
MinGW alone?  Will the free Visual C++ Express compiler do the trick?
