Only non-blocking access is provided.
For me accuracy is not that paramount. I'd want to use the method
which is least taxing on my CPU. Thats why I wanted to know if there
are any issues (in terms of cost to the CPU) in the thread approach,
where it would wake-up/sleep till the expected condition is met.
