[Qt-interest] Is the "raster vs native" issue on X11 still an issue?

I ask because the distro I'm using is considering making raster the
default. I'm just interested how "sane" this would be from the
perspective of the upstream devs, especially since they pointed to that
blog post as the rationale for the possible switch.
