Hi Colin

I think we've narrowed down the issue now. It was caused by a qmake bug that 
caused it to generate Makefiles that didn't have the full path to itself. So 
when the Makefiles were regenerated prior to installation, the system qmake got 
run and that one set the paths to /usr/lib.

That bug has been fixed. I know it's not yet in the 4.7-stable branch, but 4.7 
should have it soon, if it doesn't already.
