The problem here is lack of eduction on the part of the audience.
Lean applications without all the unnecessary, wasteful eye-candy:
* are faster to design and develop
* are faster to optimize (i.e. faster to make faster)
... and most importantly:
* are faster to get right
* are easier to maintain
* require less resources (the trend has unfortunately to continue to bloat
applications for the sake of eye-candy, leading to requiring higher powered
hardware and more RAM to do essentially the same work).
And given that software developers tend to be costly, "faster" and "easier"
and "less" as used above means:
"save money".
I think any business that were to base its production processes on the same
sort of principles as its expectations of software would quickly go bankrupt.
Think about how much money and productivity is wasted simply for the sake of
eye-candy.
