Just as to give some more variety in the proposed solutions: I stumbled across this link a couple of weeks ago myself: http://quazip.sourceforge.net/ - 
"QuaZIP is a simple C++ wrapper over Gilles Vollant's ZIP/UNZIP package that can be used to access ZIP archives. It uses Trolltech's Qt toolkit."

I have not tried it myself so far though... it talks about "has been currently tested with Qt 4.0.0", so you might need to "tweak" it a bit (even though I expect the current Qt API still to be fully compatible with that library). Seems to be somewhat outdated and not maintained anymore (last release: September 2008, v0.2.3). But at least 1 (out of 1) users would recommend this project ;) (http://sourceforge.net/projects/quazip/)
