Ah, and off course since you explicitly mentioned *embedded* application you might want to take a look at http://doc.trolltech.com/4.6/qcopchannel.html (which is only available in Qt for Embedded Linux ;) "The Qt COmmunication Protocol (QCOP) is a many-to-many protocol for transferring messages across registered channels."
