So why are you asking us to use lower-quality rendering code?

Whenever XRender is slower than what Qt can do, we'll take Qt codepaths.

Anyway, the future is OpenGL and OpenGL ES.

That you have to take up with the oxygen developers.

And, like I said, the current work is being done to improve the OpenGL 
graphics system, because that's the one where we can gain the most from good 
hardware and good drivers.
