Isn't that a bit sweeping and strong statement? Even if Qt  wants to/needs to support 
all possible compilers  not everyone is int the same boat. 

And if the advice indeed makes practical sense then it is a sad testimony to the
the state of world of C/C++ that in 2010 you need to steer clear of standard compiler
/library features that are supposed to be a decade old.
