[Qt-interest] Licensing

Hi
I have a basic question to do with licensing. I purchased a commercial Qt
license for Qt 4.2.1. Unfortunately I could not continue the license fee due
to financial restraints and so Qt 4.2.1 is the version we have been using for
our product since then. For now we could continue to do this, but I am
probably missing out on all the new features available in more up to date
versions of Qt.
Licensing as ever always seems to be overly complicated...to put into
nutshell I dont always understand it and I will always try and play safe.
The question is:-
the company I work for do not want there sources to be made available(closed
sources). I link some of these sources into applications that use Qt. Am I
still forced to continue using my licensed version or could I consider using
a more up to date version with the LGPL license.
I'm sure the answer is not going to be straight forward...but just in case???
It would just be nice to learn and use some of the newer features of Qt.
Thanks for your help
Phil
