[Qt-interest] node.js electrifying the javascript world - how about a Qt version?

Hello Andrew,
I totally agree with your suggestion!
More generally, I think Nokia has a winner with their QtScript implementation,
but is unfortunately not actively promoting its use. For example, most Qt
users don't even know about qtscriptgenerator, and this one seems
under-maintained (last time I checked, the Phonon bindings could not compile
and I had to disable it, for example). That's a pity, because the
QtScript + qtscriptgenerator is a powerful combination which I think could
really support comparison with many others modern languages (python/ruby/...),
to do things like rapid application prototyping, build automation ala rake,
unit testing, continuous integration, ...
Here are some more ideas:
- select an official QtScript interpreter and offer it in Qt/bin itself
(we have qscript Qt/examples/script in Qt src, and qsexec in
qtscriptgenerator/tools)
- CommonJS compliance, (should be the first step to a node.js version),
especially QtScript extensions as CommonJS modules.
Cheers,
