Sorry, but I write "closed software" for my company (as if THAT had anything to do with it), and I DO consider it rude to hijack newsgroup threads!

Using IT media properly for me is a sign of reliability and intelligence - not to mention being polite.

The person did not know how to properly post to newsgroups, he was told about IDs in the "mail source", he learnt a new thing... nothing rude about that.

It is as simple as that.
