This list is and never was moderated. It is a community-driven discussion forum. If you *think* you have discovered a possible bug in Qt, then this is the place to discuss this, to get some opinion. In my very rough and conservative guess based on the topics I followed here I'd say more than half of the "Qt bugs" turned out to be programmer's errors.

If it really turns out to be a Qt bug then http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/ is the place to

a) check whether such a bug is already registered
b) if not, create a new issue with detailed info

and then it will be dealt with, including discussion with whoever is assigned to the issue.

If bugs were reported here, the noise on this list would become very unhealthy, because the main purpose is to ask questions about the *usage* of Qt - not bugs. And people would just start to throw in their code (if at all) and go "Hey, I think there is a bug in there, please investigate!". And since email attachments are not archived either they would be simply lost in space.

That said, there *are* people from Nokia reading this list, and I am pretty sure they pick up the general "tone" in this list, too. So if people are only discussion bugs in Qt I am pretty sure they would take action.

But again, if you found a concrete bug, the issue tracker is the place to report it. And in my experience the bugs I reported there were dealt with (not solved!) within a few working days (sometimes even the next day).

Yes, I agree, the times when I sent a bug to bugs at trolltech.com (or whatever it was) and received a patch the next day are definitively over. But then again, the code basis of Qt keeps growing and growing, while the bugs I reported were rather of minor impact, either "Mac only" or "new technology" such as gesture events (mostly also "Mac only") (except http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTBUG-15663, which I'd really love to see fixed in the upcoming 4.7.2 *hint* *hint* - yes, "Mac only" ;)

Cheers, Oliver
