<g>. But beside that, do you know what is broken with Assistant and how
to fix it? Or does everyone have to configure/nmake on their own machines?

As I said, I used the vs2008 install and then ran configure/nmake. It
worked for me so I'll get over lack of a binary for our outdated
compiler (see above)
For the other users here, it seems that building with this version works
fine after just copying it and adding it to the vs integration list.
It's only when they run the Assistant that we see a problem with opening
the qch file. It's likely path related as you suggest but it seems that
there should be a way to correct this short of a 4 hour configure/nmake
session.
I'm also wondering whether this is indicative of some other subtle bug
lurking in the shadows.
