You said it right: invest.

I'm happy to answer questions (and no, it's not part of my job to do it here on qt-interest), but I am not involved with every single change inside Qt. I can tell you about QFileSystem, about the new multicast support, about some of the work that went in to support C++0x move semantics, etc.

I can even repeat what I know about Scene Graph and the QML world.

But there are a lot of things I cannot talk about because I simply don't know the details.

So if you want to know what's going on, you (in general, not specific to you
Scott) must get involved and find out.

There are different levels of investment..   I don't mind the QA and building when I have to move to a version.. 

Your comment of getting rid of the virtual file system, just worried me WRT the qrc resource file.. Since it supports it.. Im happy :)
