It removes temporary files, indeed.
The lack of _any_ install procedure on Windows still bothers me. This and hardcoding build path into qmake feels "out of this world". People see it and try to do something to fix it; see http://code.google.com/p/qt-msvc-installer/wiki/RelocationTricks
