http://www.exiv2.org/makernote.html ;)
What I meant to say is that (currently) I'd be happy to see "standard" EXIF tags being supported. "Makernote Format" is part of the EXIF standard, but it basically gives all the freedom to the camera manufacturers ("makers") to choose their own tags, not covered by the EXIF standard (off course in practise some manufacturers prefer to duplicate existing EXIF tags such as width and height, or even worse, only provide the data in their own makernote tags instead of the "standard" EXIF tags).
Needless to say that if a library wants to support "makernotes", it needs to implement the specifications from Nikon, Pentax, Canon... and to my understanding the "makernotes" can even vary between camera models of the same maker (at least new tags are likely to be added, which are then not present for older models etc.).
But the discussion of supported features/EXIF tags is really getting off-topic here, so maybe you'll have an own mailing list, wiki and/or discussion board ;)
Anyway, having a "simple Qt-friendly" interface for reading at least the "standard" EXIF data (JPEG great, TIFF/PNG the better) would really be useful:

http://www.exiv2.org/tags.html
Cheers, Oliver
