Sorry for thread-resuming.

I was working on a qt-style library around libetpan to handle IMAP
(but libetpan support POP3, NNTP, mbox etc as well).

The code is here: https://gitorious.org/libqetpan

I have dismissed it (motivations into NEWS file), feel free to take it
and finish it (the project has LGPL license).
