I also use Xcode and Visual Studio directly, rather than qmake.

Although it means adding/removing source files has to be done in two places,
being able to use IDE features like .xcconfig/.vsprops files is worth it.


I have a tool which handles the moc stuff automatically, which you might
find useful for the Mac:

  <http://www.refnum.com/dev/quilt/>

There's a bit of setup to integrate it into a project, but you only do that
once then it manages all pre-processing even if files are added/removed.

It's also useful for VS Express, as this doesn't support the integration
plugin.
