Yes. If you're willing to show the same bravery as if you would cross the Queen's private property! Same risks apply: you might get bitten by the watch dogs! And then come crying here licking your wounds if someone had decided to change the private code without notice...

P.S. A safer alternative would be convince people of why you need that functionality in a well-defined public API! After all, Qt will really "open up" shortly for everyone to contribute - refer to "Qt Labs" blogs website...
