If there were no "MSVC2010" specific code changes in the source, then
you should be fine...

 

However, everytime a compiler comes out with "we support the standard
more" it may cause Qt to have to have an #ifdef for it somewhere

Thank you all for your comment specially Olivers funny one :)

I understand that officially 4.6 branch is not supported and tested with
MSVS 2010 but dont you think if we copy makespec  of 2010 from 4.7 and
copy that in Mkspec folder of 4.6 and also make change i.e. adding
("$(QMAKESPEC)" == "win32-msvc2010")  in Qmake/Makefile.win32 file
should do the trick of building 4.6 for platform msvc2010??

For MSVC2010, I would recommend using the latest version of Qt 4.7 as
MSVC2010-specific issues were fixed in the 4.7 branch.
