More generally, the generator still remains something of a black box
to my eyes (not that I have studied it extensively). There is
documentation, but you need to assimilate it all before you can even
start working - and even then, you will make errors. That is a huge
barrier to keeping qt-jambi in sync with qt. As an evidence, Eskil
still commits changes to the type system, and I'm quite sure he does
it on his spare time.

It would be nice to have a "cookbook" which would allow other people
to contribute without having to go through (and understand) tens and
tens of pages - which are not even centralized to start with...
