[QtonPi] Beginner’s guide --> virtual memory exhausted

Hi,

i used the install script (http://qt-project.org/wiki/RaspberryPi_Beginners_guide) with a fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04.1 (all updates installed + build-essential / git).
It's a virtual machine with 2GB RAM. (VMware Fusion)
The installation starts and after about 30 minutes (while compiling different cpp-files) the virtual machine seems to be out of memory:
Virtual memory exhausted: Cannot allocate memory

I have also tried to use 3GB RAM and additional virtual memory. Same result.
What are the system requirements for using the install script / compiling qt5?
