[Releasing] Qt 4.8.1 open source release is ready to be tagged

We have now finalized the testing for 4.8.1 release, please tag the 4.8.1 release for the sha1.

Enclosed, please find the final changes file of 4.8.1 release corresponding the sha1.

We have already built the standalone installers and done release testing based on them. Next we need to decide where to distribute the installers.

Would it be possible to use the existing Nokia servers to distribute also the 4.8.1 created by us for the Qt Project? There is likely quite much load when the release is out, so it would be great if we can have it distributed with the same infra as 4.8.0 and earlier versions.

We are currently preparing & testing Qt 4.8.1 open source release for next week. Exact release date is still open, until all tests are passed. And, as discussed it is possible that critical problems are found, and then we need to take another try.

We are currently testing against sha1 that points to commit: 1e0021d8d9e374ae3959fcd4eac5d9e7238cbc54

Latest version of changes-4.8.1 file is found attached. Again, this may not yet be the final one, we need to first test.

In addition to the testing we are conducting, it is good to hear user feedback. So, please feel free to test and send feedback to releasing at qt-project.org<mailto:releasing at qt-project.org> mailing list.
