(5:03:19 PM) janiheikkinen: Next meeting
(5:03:25 PM) janiheikkinen: Anything else?
(5:04:17 PM) janiheikkinen: Let's start from installer status. Iikka is away but I have short update:
(5:04:31 PM) janiheikkinen: Android installers missing from today.
(5:04:47 PM) janiheikkinen: Packaging fixes for Windows Android installer (related to symlinks)
(5:04:57 PM) janiheikkinen: Other installers available
(5:05:04 PM) janiheikkinen: preparations to publish rc1 online ongoing
(5:05:13 PM) janiheikkinen: Few Installer-Framework related items open, checking which of those can/should be fixed for rc1
(5:05:24 PM) janiheikkinen: QtCreator autoupdate functionality not ready for rc1 (Kai?)
(5:06:05 PM) tijensse: janiheikkinen: not sure what that means, yes the updateplugin needs some love
(5:06:15 PM) tijensse: and it it not enabled at the moment
(5:06:48 PM) tijensse: me priorized that as nice to have
(5:07:46 PM) janiheikkinen: tijensse: It is from Iikka's mail so I know less than you. I was hoping you/Kai and Iikka was discussed about it...
(5:08:08 PM) janiheikkinen: But I think it ok and not mandatory for RC1
(5:08:52 PM) kkoehne_: I think what's missing right now is https://codereview.qt-project.org/#change,56668 . But okay, we can discuss with Iikka tomorrow whether to still get it in.
(5:09:21 PM) tijensse: janiheikkinen: the plugin came from me and I had no time to see which problems are there and how it could be enabled in qtcreator, will do it after the first rc
(5:09:39 PM) janiheikkinen: tijensse: OK
(5:09:58 PM) janiheikkinen: Anything else related to installers?
(5:10:47 PM) tijensse: nothing from my side at the moment, just try to fix some incoming bugreports
(5:10:47 PM) akseli1: regarding to Android installers missing from today ..
(5:11:04 PM) akseli1: does apply to windows installer only. linux installers available
(5:11:43 PM) thiago_: anything that applies to RC1 applies to the final release
(5:11:46 PM) thiago_: remember that
(5:11:54 PM) thiago_: it's possible that RC1 will be the releasable version
(5:12:03 PM) thiago_ is now known as thiago
(5:12:51 PM) janiheikkinen: OK, next 5.1 error metrics
(5:13:13 PM) janiheikkinen: Open 5.1.0 issues: 270(31 more than week ago)
(5:13:23 PM) janiheikkinen: P0: 2 (one more than last week)
(5:13:37 PM) janiheikkinen: Both related to Windows Android installer
(5:14:01 PM) janiheikkinen: Fixes should be available and in tomorrow's packages
(5:14:20 PM) janiheikkinen: P1: 22 (2 more than last week)
(5:14:28 PM) janiheikkinen: Not evaluated: 50(2 less than week ago)
(5:14:48 PM) janiheikkinen: So pretty much similar situation than week ago
(5:15:05 PM) janiheikkinen: OK, open errors increased quite much...
(5:15:19 PM) janiheikkinen: Any questions or comments?
(5:15:34 PM) kkoehne_: janiheikkinen: What about the 22 P1's ?
(5:15:59 PM) thiago: we should post a list of those 22 P1s to bring attention to them
(5:16:08 PM) janiheikkinen: kkoehne: What do you mean?
(5:16:29 PM) kkoehne_: janiheikkinen: did anybody checked them whether they're real P1's for the release?
(5:16:48 PM) lqi [~lqi at ti0018a380-dhcp2407.bb.online.no] entered the room.
(5:17:09 PM) janiheikkinen: kkoehne: I and Hanne did.
(5:17:45 PM) janiheikkinen: All which are needed for 5.1 are linked to that metaerror
(5:18:18 PM) janiheikkinen: In that meta error there is 6 issue open
(5:18:55 PM) kkoehne_: okay. So we've only to worry about the one's linked in the meta error.
(5:19:06 PM) janiheikkinen: 3 related to those windows android, 2 has already fix merged but not verified and one installer framework issue...
(5:19:30 PM) janiheikkinen: kkoehne: yes, that is true
(5:19:55 PM) janiheikkinen: thiago: What do you mean by posting those P1?
(5:21:31 PM) thiago: include the list in our report
(5:21:37 PM) thiago: just to bring attention to them
(5:21:50 PM) janiheikkinen: OK, I'll do that. Good point!
(5:22:09 PM) janiheikkinen: Anything else or can we move to RC1 topic?
(5:23:16 PM) janiheikkinen: ok, let's discuss about RC1
(5:23:49 PM) janiheikkinen: As I wrote earlier errors in that metabug are pretty much OK
(5:24:13 PM) janiheikkinen: Only open issue is https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-31475
(5:24:48 PM) janiheikkinen: or issue which doesn't have fix available
(5:25:13 PM) janiheikkinen: This issue seems to be pretty hard to reproduce, mostly affecting our RTA
(5:25:17 PM) kkoehne_: janiheikkinen: Well, it's a P2 because it says "uninstall the Qt several times into a same directory. "
(5:25:19 PM) thiago: RTA?
(5:25:39 PM) janiheikkinen: thiago: release test automation
(5:25:45 PM) thiago: we need to wait for the Perl update from ossi
(5:25:50 PM) thiago: no RC before that
(5:26:16 PM) ossi|tt: it only needs another integration attempt ... hopefully ^^
(5:26:54 PM) janiheikkinen: thiago:ossi|tt: do you really think it is safe to take those changes in now?
(5:27:08 PM) janiheikkinen: Or is it better to take those in 5.1.1?
(5:27:41 PM) janiheikkinen: We are so close to RC and I am wondering how risky those changes are?
(5:27:46 PM) thiago: ossi is making them in the release branch
(5:27:52 PM) thiago: that means he thinks they are necessary now
(5:27:54 PM) ossi|tt: if it integrates it's quite likely to be good. at least it won't *break* anything
(5:28:11 PM) ossi|tt: janiheikkinen: you'd need to discuss that with tuukka ;)
(5:28:16 PM) thiago: I disagreed, but he's the maintainer
(5:29:15 PM) fregl left the room (quit: Quit: Konversation terminated!).
(5:29:16 PM) janiheikkinen: ossi|tt: I already did before this meeting and according to Tuukka it is ok to wait 5.1.1
(5:30:01 PM) janiheikkinen: so my proposal is to "publish" those in 5.1.1
(5:30:23 PM) sahumada: janiheikkinen: if they pass they will be part of 5.1.0 .. there is no (easy and elegant) way to revert them
(5:30:36 PM) ossi|tt: janiheikkinen: yeah, tuukka thinks it's ok to patch only the commercial packages. this doesn't really reflect good engineering practice ;)
(5:31:23 PM) thiago: ossi makes the decision here
(5:31:39 PM) janiheikkinen: sahumada: ossi|tt: if they pass, is there all needed in then?
(5:31:51 PM) ossi|tt: janiheikkinen: yes, the set is complete
(5:32:16 PM) ossi|tt: janiheikkinen: on the packaging side the syncqt invocations still need to be added, though
(5:32:44 PM) sahumada: ossi|tt: I am playing with it already .. something like this https://codereview.qt-project.org/57777
(5:33:40 PM) ossi|tt: sahumada: ah, very good
(5:34:01 PM) ossi|tt: sahumada: you don't need to do that for every module. it's ok to run syncqt per repository (but every repo, obviously)
(5:34:44 PM) sahumada: ossi|tt: we can take it offline once your changes are in
(5:35:01 PM) janiheikkinen: ossi|tt: when those changes are in?
(5:35:18 PM) sahumada: janiheikkinen: two hours if CI behaves
(5:35:22 PM) ossi|tt: not my decision ;)
(5:35:34 PM) steveire left the room (quit: Ping timeout: 276 seconds).
(5:35:51 PM) janiheikkinen: OK, so those are included in tomorrow's packages (if CI behaves)...
(5:37:08 PM) janiheikkinen: Is there anything else which needs to be done before we can publish RC1?
(5:38:05 PM) thiago: sanity checking, that's all
(5:38:07 PM) ossi|tt: sahumada: ah, i understand your change now. it's actually good, just the cds are a tad weird (should be unnecessary to start with, i'd think)
(5:39:13 PM) janiheikkinen: My proposal is that if those android changes are OK and that Ossi's change is OK we freeze RC1 content tomorrow and publish in on wednesday. Of course lots of testing during tomorrow...
(5:40:15 PM) sahumada: janiheikkinen: after ossi|tt's changes are in .. we need to update qt5.git .. and then they will be part of the packages .. provided that https://codereview.qt-project.org/57777 is also merged
(5:40:40 PM) sahumada: so I dont think this will be ready by tomorrow morning
(5:41:29 PM) janiheikkinen: sahumada: but tomorrow?
(5:42:39 PM) janiheikkinen: According to Tuukka it would be really good to publish RC1 on wednesday... There is big Qt happening in China and it would be really good to publish RC1 there as well...
(5:42:44 PM) sahumada: janiheikkinen: if everything goes ok .. it could be .. but in any case I think that your idea is to freeze the content once ossi|tt's changes are in and then publish the installer .. that could be Wednesday or Thursday
(5:43:27 PM) janiheikkinen: sahumada: You got the point!
(5:44:18 PM) janiheikkinen: So let's proceed with that plan...
(5:45:13 PM) janiheikkinen: We are pretty much handled the agenda, does anyone have something else on mind or just agree the next meeting?
(5:46:26 PM) janiheikkinen: Next monday with that same time?
(5:47:16 PM) thiago: if testing tomorrow indicates that the package is sane, we have a candidate
(5:47:40 PM) thiago: next Monday sounds fine then
(5:49:50 PM) janiheikkinen: ok, next monday 16:00 CET then. Let's hope everything goes OK and we got the canditate tomorrow
(5:50:06 PM) janiheikkinen: Thank's for everyone!
