Delta to RC1 as an attachment. Unfortunately there is still at least two issues in RC2 which must be fixed before final Qt 5.10.0 release: QTBUG-64868 & QTBUG-64820. Luckily we have fixes for both available & we are planning to get RC3 out on Monday. And if it will be finally ok for the release we will release Qt 5.10.0 on Thursday as planned. [17:03:51] pong [17:04:40] Lets start from Qt 5.10.0 release decision: [17:04:54] to android or not to android [17:06:35] thiago: We can't drop android binaries at this point but we can add the issue in the known issues page [17:06:55] sure we can [17:06:59] remove the files before posting them [17:07:22] thiago: That isn't possible anymore if we want to keep the schedule [17:07:38] how deleting two files is not possible? [17:07:39] We have final packages already available [17:07:46] I'm not asking to create files [17:07:48] I'm asking to delete files [17:08:08] even easier, we don't have to wait. Just remove now. [17:08:31] for dropping some files from the release we need to recreate packages and repos [17:08:43] and that isn't possible with current schedule [17:09:56] And because QTBUG-64103 hasn't been in the blocker list at all I propose we just release Qt 5.10.0 with the content we have and add QTBUG-64103 as known issue. lars and eskil has agreed that already in the report [17:09:57] jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress) [17:09:57] jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress) [17:10:21] And in addition to that we will add QTBUG-64103 in Qt 5.10.1 blocker list [17:10:22] jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress) [17:11:12] I agree QTBUG-64103 is severe issue but in my opinion we can live with it in Qt 5.10.0 because 5.10.1 will come quite soon [17:11:13] jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress) [17:11:43] delaying 5.10.0 more is worse that releasing it now with known issues [17:11:53] I don't see how it isn't possible to remove files from the server [17:11:57] someone uploaded them, right? [17:12:02] so someone has the password or SSH key [17:12:09] so someone can go in and delete the files [17:12:17] there's the manifest for the installer, sure. Edit it. [17:13:06] it will be a major disservice to our users to release with a brown paper bag [17:13:15] thiago: it isn't that easy. And we have day off tomorrow -> we don't have time to do that if we want to release on thursday [17:13:30] then delay by one day if you're not working tomorrow [17:13:32] this is serious [17:13:46] release on Friday [17:13:51] release next Tuesday for all I care [17:14:11] the schedule be damned, this is a brown paper bag P1 [17:14:37] thiago: it isn't that easy. There is all the marketing etc stuff involved and so on we can't release on Friday. I am not sure if we can do it later [17:14:46] I. don't. care. [17:14:52] I do [17:14:56] everyone can postpone it for 24 hours [17:15:27] according eskil's comment on bugreport "only thing I have found which does not work without the patch is QFile::copy()" means we deny release from everybody? [17:15:34] how difficult is it to ssh into the server and delete two files? [17:15:37] i just don't get that [17:15:51] akseli: QFile::rename doesn't work. That means QSaveFile and QSettings doesn't work. [17:16:01] that means most things that save files or store settings in Qt doesn't work. [17:16:10] thiago: what do you mean by deleting 2 files? [17:16:10] => brown paper bag [17:16:12] thiago: in bug report there are opposite comments(?) [17:16:19] jaheikki3: the two binaries for android [17:16:53] We have one offline installer for linux, one for mac and one for windows. All those includes also android binaries [17:16:58] unless they are distributed by the installer, then the installer would need to know they can't be fetched [17:17:10] And android binaries are also build in online repositores [17:17:24] hold on [17:17:32] let me read those comments, they weren't there last night [17:18:06] So removing android from online needs changes in repository configurations etc [17:20:04] ok, dropping the issue to P2 [17:20:08] objections to releasing removed [17:20:12] binaries can be included [17:20:22] the issue is not as bad as I thought [17:20:54] Great! So let's release Qt 5.10.0 with content we have now on Thursday [17:23:37] Then Qt 5.11 initial schedule [17:24:10] RC tomorrow.... [17:24:15] ;) [17:24:31] I sent a proposal in ML a week ago [17:24:41] see http://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/development/2017-November/031494.html [17:24:52] No comments or objections [17:25:10] So I propose we will proceed with that schedule in Qt 5.11 [17:25:57] meaning: Soft Branching starts 24th January 2018 [17:25:57] * Feature Freeze & Finalize branching 31st January 2018 [17:25:57] * Alpha Release 21st February 2018 [17:25:57] * First Beta Release 21st March 2018 [17:25:57] * Release Candidate 17th May 2018 [17:25:57] * Final Release 31st May 2018 [17:26:05] Any objections? [17:26:25] seems fine [17:27:33] Ok, I'll update the schedule iin the wiki after the meeting [17:28:23] I think it was all at this time. Let's skip next weeks meeting & have new one 19th December at normal time, ok? [17:28:43] +1 [17:29:21] +1 [17:29:24] +1 [17:29:58] Great. let's end this meeting now. Thanks for your participation, bye! [17:30:13] bye [17:30:19] bye [17:30:28] bye From jani.heikkinen at qt.io Thu Dec 7 12:29:39 2017 From: jani.heikkinen at qt.io (Jani Heikkinen) Date: Thu, 7 Dec 2017 11:29:39 +0000 Subject: [Releasing] Qt 5.10.0 and Qt Creator 4.5.0 released Message-ID: Hi everyone! Target is to do final downmerge from '5.9' -> '5.9.4' and finalize branching at the beginning of January 2018 so there should be enough time to finalize ongoing ones in '5.9'.
