[17:00:21] <akseli> jaheikki3: pong
[17:00:29] <ankokko_> jaheikki3: pong
[17:01:59] <thiago> jaheikki3: pong
[17:02:08] <jaheikki3> Time to start qt release team meeting
[17:02:16] <jaheikki3> On agenda today:
[17:02:23] <jaheikki3> Qt 5.10.0 release decision
[17:02:35] <jaheikki3> Qt 5.11 initial schedule
[17:02:44] <jaheikki3> Any additional item to the agenda?
[17:03:51] <carewolf> pong
[17:04:40] <jaheikki3> Lets start from Qt 5.10.0 release decision:
[17:04:54] <thiago> to android or not to android
[17:06:35] <jaheikki3> thiago: We can't drop android binaries at this point but we can add the issue in the known issues page
[17:06:55] <thiago> sure we can
[17:06:59] <thiago> remove the files before posting them
[17:07:22] <jaheikki3> thiago: That isn't possible anymore if we want to keep the schedule
[17:07:38] <thiago> how deleting two files is not possible?
[17:07:39] <jaheikki3> We have final packages already available
[17:07:46] <thiago> I'm not asking to create files
[17:07:48] <thiago> I'm asking to delete files
[17:08:08] <thiago> even easier, we don't have to wait. Just remove now.
[17:08:31] <jaheikki3> for dropping some files from the release we need to recreate packages and repos
[17:08:43] <jaheikki3> and that isn't possible with current schedule
[17:09:56] <jaheikki3> And because QTBUG-64103 hasn't been in the blocker list at all I propose we just release Qt 5.10.0 with the content we have and add QTBUG-64103 as known issue. lars and eskil has agreed that already in the report
[17:09:57] <qt_gerrit> jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress)
[17:09:57] <qt_gerrit> jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress)
[17:10:21] <jaheikki3> And in addition to that we will add QTBUG-64103 in Qt 5.10.1 blocker list
[17:10:22] <qt_gerrit> jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress)
[17:11:12] <jaheikki3> I agree QTBUG-64103 is severe issue but in my opinion we can live with it in Qt 5.10.0 because 5.10.1 will come quite soon
[17:11:13] <qt_gerrit> jaheikki3: [regression] QFile::rename fails on Android - https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-64103 (In Progress)
[17:11:43] <jaheikki3> delaying 5.10.0 more is worse that releasing it now with known issues
[17:11:53] <thiago> I don't see how it isn't possible to remove files from the server
[17:11:57] <thiago> someone uploaded them, right?
[17:12:02] <thiago> so someone has the password or SSH key
[17:12:09] <thiago> so someone can go in and delete the files
[17:12:17] <thiago> there's the manifest for the installer, sure. Edit it.
[17:13:06] <thiago> it will be a major disservice to our users to release with a brown paper bag
[17:13:15] <jaheikki3> thiago: it isn't that easy. And we have day off tomorrow -> we don't have time to do that if we want to release on thursday
[17:13:30] <thiago> then delay by one day if you're not working tomorrow
[17:13:32] <thiago> this is serious
[17:13:46] <thiago> release on Friday
[17:13:51] <thiago> release next Tuesday for all I care
[17:14:11] <thiago> the schedule be damned, this is a brown paper bag P1
[17:14:37] <jaheikki3> thiago: it isn't that easy. There is all the marketing etc stuff involved and so on we can't release on Friday. I am not sure if we can do it later
[17:14:46] <thiago> I. don't. care.
[17:14:52] <jaheikki3> I do
[17:14:56] <thiago> everyone can postpone it for 24 hours
[17:15:27] <akseli> according eskil's comment on bugreport "only thing I have found which does not work without the patch is QFile::copy()" means we deny release from everybody?
[17:15:34] <thiago> how difficult is it to ssh into the server and delete two files?
[17:15:37] <akseli> i just don't get that
[17:15:51] <thiago> akseli: QFile::rename doesn't work. That means QSaveFile and QSettings doesn't work.
[17:16:01] <thiago> that means most things that save files or store settings in Qt doesn't work.
[17:16:10] <jaheikki3> thiago: what do you mean by deleting 2 files?
[17:16:10] <thiago> => brown paper bag
[17:16:12] <akseli> thiago: in bug report there are opposite comments(?)
[17:16:19] <thiago> jaheikki3: the two binaries for android
[17:16:53] <jaheikki3> We have one offline installer for linux, one for mac and one for windows. All those includes also android binaries
[17:16:58] <carewolf> unless they are distributed by the installer, then the installer would need to know they can't be fetched
[17:17:10] <jaheikki3> And android binaries are also build in online repositores
[17:17:24] <thiago> hold on
[17:17:32] <thiago> let me read those comments, they weren't there last night
[17:18:06] <jaheikki3> So removing android from online needs changes in repository configurations etc
[17:20:04] <thiago> ok, dropping the issue to P2
[17:20:08] <thiago> objections to releasing removed
[17:20:12] <thiago> binaries can be included
[17:20:22] <thiago> the issue is not as bad as I thought
[17:20:54] <jaheikki3> Great! So let's release Qt 5.10.0 with content we have now on Thursday
[17:23:37] <jaheikki3> Then Qt 5.11 initial schedule
[17:24:10] <frkleint> RC tomorrow....
[17:24:15] <jaheikki3> ;)
[17:24:31] <jaheikki3> I sent a proposal in ML a week ago
[17:24:41] <jaheikki3> see http://lists.qt-project.org/pipermail/development/2017-November/031494.html
[17:24:52] <jaheikki3> No comments or objections
[17:25:10] <jaheikki3> So I propose we will proceed with that schedule in Qt 5.11
[17:25:57] <jaheikki3> meaning: Soft Branching starts 24th January 2018
[17:25:57] <jaheikki3> * Feature Freeze & Finalize branching 31st January 2018
[17:25:57] <jaheikki3> * Alpha Release 21st February 2018
[17:25:57] <jaheikki3> * First Beta Release 21st March 2018
[17:25:57] <jaheikki3> * Release Candidate 17th May 2018
[17:25:57] <jaheikki3> * Final Release 31st May 2018
[17:26:05] <jaheikki3> Any objections?
[17:26:25] <carewolf> seems fine
[17:27:33] <jaheikki3> Ok, I'll update the schedule iin the wiki after the meeting
[17:28:23] <jaheikki3> I think it was all at this time. Let's skip next weeks meeting & have new one 19th December at normal time, ok?
[17:28:43] <akseli> +1
[17:29:21] <frkleint> +1
[17:29:24] <ankokko_> +1
[17:29:58] <jaheikki3> Great. let's end this meeting now. Thanks for your participation, bye!
[17:30:13] <akseli> bye
[17:30:19] <ankokko_> bye
[17:30:28] <frkleint> bye
