Meeting minutes from Qt Release Team meeting Tue 28th April 2020

Qt 5.15.0 status:
- Branching from '5.15' to '5.15.0' ready
- Creating changes files for the release ongoing. Open ones here: https://codereview.qt-project.org/q/message:%2522Add+changes+file+for+Qt+5.15.0%2522+status:open
   * Missing ones won't block RC; we can take that kind of changes in between rc and final
- Most of fixes from '5.14' are already in '5.15.0'; only connectivity merge is still missing (pending a fix for qtbase)
- All blockers in release blocker list (https://bugreports.qt.io/issues/?filter=21925) has a fix available
   * Some fixes open in '5.15.0'
--> We will freeze Qt 5.15.0 release content immediately after missing fixes are in
   * Target is still to get rc out at the end of April as planned
   * We won't take new fixes in between rc and final. If some new blocker reported from RC it will be fixed and new rc is released with a fix for that blocker (& nothing else)
** Missing changes files + possible documentation fixes are exceptions: Those can be taken in without new RC
- Target is to release Qt 5.15.0 Tue 19th May 2020

Next meeting Tue 5th April 16:00 CET

[17:02:54] <jaheikki3> Any additional item to the agenda?
[17:03:16] <thiago> I think the 6.0 status is best discussed on the ML
[17:03:22] <thiago> thanks for sending that
[17:04:23] <jaheikki3> thiago: yeah, agree.
[17:05:07] <jaheikki3> Ok, let's browse through the Qt 5.15.0 status
[17:05:26] <jaheikki3> We are really close to rc

[17:06:18] <jaheikki3> But missing ones won't block RC; we can take that kind of changes in between rc and final
[17:06:38] <jaheikki3> Most of fixes from '5.14' are already in '5.15.0'
[17:06:45] <jaheikki3> only connectivity merge is still missing (pending a fix for qtbase)

[17:07:14] <thiago> isn't the 5.14 branch closed?
[17:07:22] <jaheikki3> thiago: yes, it is closed
[17:07:40] <thiago> ok
[17:07:54] <thiago> I see integrations from yesterday
[17:07:55] <jaheikki3> but merge from 5.14 to 5.15 did't went in yet so we will take it in 5.15.0
[17:08:00] <thiago> I guess they were te last few
[17:08:07] <thiago> ok, fair enough
[17:09:35] <jaheikki3> There is some changes still ongoing in '5.15.0', mostly QCbor related ones
[17:10:22] <jaheikki3> thiago: can you finalize those really soon or can we postpone those in Qt 5.15.1?
[17:10:52] <jaheikki3> Because we should freeze the rc content really soon to be able to keep the schedule
[17:11:22] <thiago> oh, I forgot they were here
[17:11:25] <thiago> thanks for the reminder
[17:11:30] -*- thiago looks at them now
[17:11:42] <jaheikki3> great, thanks!
[17:13:05] <jaheikki3> So when we get those remaining changes in we will freeze Qt 5.15.0 content & publish RC
[17:13:17] <jaheikki3> Target is to get it out this thursday as planned
[17:14:38] <jaheikki3> And as earlier we will keep rc as it is if no new blockers reported from RC
[17:15:11] <jaheikki3> And in case of new blocker it will be fixed and new rc is released with a fix for that blocker (& nothing else)
[17:15:34] <jaheikki3> but missing changes files + possible documentation fixes are exceptions: Those can be taken in without new RC
[17:16:07] <jaheikki3> And target is to release Qt 5.15.0 Tue 19th May 2020
