Done with the blend functions, including the removal of the big 16x16 tables 
of scaling, transforming and blending functions. The drop in relocations is 
negligible though (from 4986 to 4967).

The rotate functions don't seem to be vectorised in the current version of GCC 
so I've left it alone.
