Apart from the small problem of QML bindings, I guess.

I'd agree with the change, though. Thumbnails aren't (necessarily)
small; so leaving the user in explicit control of when to load a
thumbnail (and store it somewhere to avoid reloading it) is a sane
thing to do I think.
