[Development] need to handle touch events rather than depending on mouse event synthesis

To be honest, this might be one of the things we _need_ to fix before 5.0, 
especially if it means changing the event classes on the C++ side. Maybe it 
can be done compatibly, maybe it can't. Shawn will have to investigate and 
tell us as soon as possible.
