Actually, no. It uploaded your changes to an FTP server.

There was also a hidden release manager mode, which caused it to list the 
directory in the FTP server and download everyone's files. That way, the 
release manager got a listing of all the changes that had been checked by 
everyone and what was left. That's how the release manager knew who to nag to 
write their changelogs.
