In general if someone wants more information and functionality in this area 
than QStorageInfo provides I would recommend taking a look at Solid from KDE. 
See http://solid.kde.org
In the new KDE Frameworks it is a tier1 API which means it only depends on Qt 
and system libraries, so maybe that can cover your use case.
