Wow ...
So it seems that this must be a case of using the gold ld together with one or several of the "incriminated" linker options from that bug report? I'm asking because
- the i386 build uses the same linker (in 32bit version of course) and completes without issues
- I've built Qt 4.8.7 in both 32bit and 64bit mode just fine today, in another of my PPAs. Both use gcc 4.9 though, but both also use the additional optimisation options.
