[Development] extending the cocoa native style via a plugin: feasible?

It's unnerving to see that on KDE MLs I'm told to "take this up with Qt", and when I do, some of the same people come to suggest that I shouldn't even be pursuing it at all.

How can this not come across as a way of saying that the optimal KDE experience is off-limits to OS X and other platforms that cannot run a Plasma DE?
