Haven't seen that in the repository, so it doesn't count.

Maybe, but it's actually unlikely. Each protocol woill probably be different
enought hat we may need different API.
If only we could get the industry to agree to a single or at most a handful of
protocols (from experience in the sector, that's not MQTT).
