KDE being based on Qt that could mean that:

- they implemented their own drag'n'drop (or workaround for Compiz, in case that's a known issue) or

- your KDE links against a different version of Qt (the "distro Qt") than your Qt (of which you are trying the examples - or are you using the *same* distro Qt installation?) which doesn't have that bug (because it's either newer or older).
