Not to monopolize this thread or anything, but I just thought I should also
tell you that the installer does *not* work on CentOS 6.3 either (my 64bit
laptop - just installed it a few months ago with the latest CentOS):

[josiah at centos62laptop Downloads]$
./qt-linux-opensource-5.0.1-x86-offline.run
./qt-linux-opensource-5.0.1-x86-offline.run: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6:
version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by
./qt-linux-opensource-5.0.1-x86-offline.run)

[josiah at centos62laptop Downloads]$ lsb_release -a
LSB Version:
 :core-4.0-amd64:core-4.0-ia32:core-4.0-noarch:graphics-4.0-amd64:graphics-4.0-ia32:graphics-4.0-noarch:printing-4.0-amd64:printing-4.0-ia32:printing-4.0-noarch
Distributor ID: CentOS
Description: CentOS release 6.3 (Final)
Release: 6.3
Codename: Final
[josiah at centos62laptop Downloads]$ uname -a
Linux centos62laptop 2.6.32-279.5.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Aug 24 01:07:11
UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

As before, I welcome anyone to tell me I'm doing something wrong - I'll
gladly admit my error here, even though I don't know what my error is yet!
:-)
