Just to kick the hornets' nest:

"By linking with the ODB runtime libraries (directly or indirectly, statically
or _dynamically_...your application is subject to the terms of the GPL and/or
NCUEL which both require that you release the source code of your application
if and when you distribute it."

I'm a bit confused by this clause in the licensing. I realize that Stallman
et. al. consider any kind of interaction between an application and a shared
library to be a "derived work" (which I do not agree with), according to
Galoob v. Nintendo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galoob_v._Nintendo), to be
considered a derivative work, the Court of Appeals ruled that a program "must
incorporate a portion of the copyrighted work in some form" (which I actually
do agree with). So, attempting to enforce GPLv2 on a work that only
dynamically links to a shared library covered by that license would be, I
think, not only an exercise in futility, but also -- according to this ruling
-- illegal.

( No, I'm not a lawyer. :) )
