You'd be lucky. I've witnessed the fall of Apple's QuickTime SDK from a bit too close for comfort, and that one has been replaced only (very) partially and not at all on MS Windows. It was always free, but it was much more widely used than most (for whom QuickTime is just an obsolete media player) might think.
