This may not fly with Apple store rules, but if a reasonable portion of your potential clients are likely to have multiple host apps installed it can still be acceptable for your plugin to install shared stuff in "/Library/Application Support" - maybe in fact you already install things there.
As a counter part, you'd have to distribute your plugin with an installer.
